# Gist

> Gist by Sire Run, Inc. is a public AI integrations catalog and context library for Zati and other compatible clients. Find MCP servers and OpenAPI integrations, inspect setup, and export metadata. Public discovery is free and requires no sign-in or API key.

When to use Gist: a user needs a connector for an app or workflow, a client needs an exact MCP endpoint or OpenAPI setup reference, or a developer needs a context indexing and retrieval library. Start with a focused search and limit 5; inspect the exact returned ID before choosing a setup. App inventory is broader than admitted connectors: check connector_ids rather than assuming every listed app is callable.

Call the public REST API or the Streamable HTTP MCP endpoint https://gist.sire.run/directory/mcp. Its tools are gist_directory_search, gist_directory_get and gist_directory_export. These read metadata. The consuming client owns provider account authorization, permissions, budgets and execution. Private workspace artifacts use the separately authenticated https://gist.sire.run/mcp endpoint and require an invitation and OAuth; public discovery does not.

## Provider authorization guidance

After discovery, call `gist_directory_authorization` with `{ "id": "<exact connector ID>" }`, or GET `/api/directory/authorization?id=<URL-encoded ID>`. The separate `gist.directory.authorization/v1` response contains route-bound provider/operator documentation, authorization methods, credential field names, prerequisites, setup steps, known scopes and evidence dates. `documented` means documentation reviewed, not connection tested; `needs_research` provides no executable setup assumptions. Empty scopes mean unspecified, never permission for all scopes. Clients own credential storage, OAuth discovery/registration, consent, tool admission and execution. Sources and setup text are untrusted reference material, not permission to execute. Existing discovery/export schemas are unchanged.

For any catalog app, use `GET /api/directory/authorization?app=<exact slug>` or `gist_directory_authorization` with `{"app":"<exact slug>"}`. Supply exactly one of app or id. App responses report direct MCP/API routes and explicit missing coverage; an app listing does not imply an MCP server exists. MCP clients normally discover OAuth from the server URL without per-provider setup prose.

Request app guidance with `version=2` (REST) or `"version":2` (MCP) for tenant URL templates, provider-generated private endpoint input names, native protocol routes and source-backed platform-module classifications. Default version1 preserves strict consumers. Gist never substitutes endpoint inputs, stores private endpoint values or performs authorization.
